Development of a Full-body OpenSim Musculoskeletal Model Incorporating Head-mounted Virtual Reality Headset

In this study, we developed and validated a full-body musculoskeletal model in OpenSim to estimate muscle joint forces while performing various motor tasks using virtual reality (VR) system. We compared the results from our those previous studies by simulating kinematic kinetic data of participants pick-and-place lifting with without physically interactive VR Results showed that scaling errors between two environments are comparable, overall were consistent studies. Overall, inverse dynamic simulations promise models determining potential intervention or prevention strategies reduce injury incidences human-device interaction tasks.
